Of course, I'm one of those rare few people for whom cholesterol is an urban legend and still wear the same size pants they did in high school. Those of you who get winded moving from the bed to the couch might want take caution in their approach to this culinary masterpiece...

Somewhere a Stoner is Weeping
Pizza Hut's latest promotion, the "Crunchy Cheesy Crust" pizza, certainly LOOKED very tasty in the commercials and advertisements I had recently seen. "Self," I said, being prone to grandiose and slightly deranged conversations with myself, "You should try out this delicious looking new take on what is a beloved staple in your limited diet..." (I tend to be verbose when carrying on pompous dialogues with my self.) Order it I did, and eagerly popped open the box to devour my fresh pizza... only to unveil a rather sad looking, flat pepperoni pie with what appeared to be burnt parmesan webbed across the crust. Biting into the first slice confirmed the dismal quality of the meal before me... bland, cardboard-like crust supported the most meager of cheese and pepperoni portions, regardless of my having indicated my preference for extra cheese during the ordering process. Reaching the crust, I found my initial assessment of the "crunchy cheesy" aspect of the crust to be proven... practically inedible.
Now I like Pizza Hut generally.... a good pan pizza from them will kill the munchies everytime... but this is one new idea that should have stayed in the corporate office drawing board.

Pigs are Tasty, Part Two!!
A grocery store in Manhattan (who shall remain nameless for legal purposes) was advertising hams as being "delicious for Chanukah" earlier today... at least until someone pointed out to the clerks that, however delicious the ham may be, nobody who celebrates Chanukah would be even slightly interested...It's a damn shame, though... with modern government inspection and cleanliness standards in place, surely it's time to relax some of those strict Jewish dietary laws. The pigs the rest of us are wolfing down by the ribload are most certainly a lot cleaner than the swine from Biblical times, right?
Besides, "Hanukkah Ham" has a nice ring to it...

Pigs are Tasty!
Just wanted to give a shout out to Famous Dave's... some of the best barbecue I've had here in the Denver Metro Area. The ribs don't fall off the bone, but are so tender they feel like they should... and the brisket is enough to make you want to slap your mother for having never made it that good. The beans... the beans require their own paragraph. Rich and smoky, laced with BBQ sauce... the thing that REALLY sets them apart are the little bits of shredded brisket that permeate them. I can and have made a meal out of just the beans...
They're kind of a long haul if you live in the South Metro Area, but are worth every $3.00 gallon of gas you use getting there.

Oh Goodie... A New Addiction.
When I was 10, my father moved my whole family to England for a few years. One of the memories that still stands out today was of tender, lightly battered fish from the local fish and chip shop... a taste I'd been unable to find back here in America... until yesterday.I'd seen the little hole-in-the-wall place called GB Fish and Chips every day since my work moved to their new building, and yesterday I decided to give them a go.
I had the cod, and it was literally the flakiest, most tender, perfectly battered little plank of perfection I had tasted on this side of the Atlantic.
Had a chance to meet the owner, Alex, while I was waiting for my food. Really great guy, serving REALLY great food. You're doing yourself a disservice by not immediately packing up whatever you're doing and heading there.
